Hello Readers! It's Time for a New Chapter!

Well, I have bad but news and good news.

Bad news is I am officially "closing" my BookTube channel. When I started on BookTube, I had more filming-friendly schedule. I had a couple mornings free a week to film and edit videos, as well as time on the weekends to keep up with my never-ending YouTube subscription list. BookTube worked with my schedule and allowed me to do something creative with my free time.

In the last year, I relocated and started a brand new job. My work schedule has never been less filming-friendly, which is why I haven't been posting new videos. I barely scraped together some videos for last October and that's my favorite time of year. It's just no longer easy to make videos regularly (or even semi-regularly). For now, I'm calling it quits on video-making and filling my free time with different creative projects.

Now I also have some good news for you! I still plan on sharing my love of books with the internet on a semi-regularly basis. I am starting a brand new book blog, cleverly titled My Cup of Books, on Blogspot. (It would have been Cup of Books, but of course, that was already taken.) I will be transitioning from BookTuber to book blogger.

It's a change in format, but not in content. You can still expect book reviews, book tags and other bookish topics on this blog. Who knows, I might also post about writing as well.

Get ready! This is a new chapter in my online life!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Did you know you look a lot like this BookTuber?
I get this a lot.

Why did you decide to start a book blog?
It takes a lot of time and energy to run a BookTube channel. Since I no longer have a filming-friendly schedule, I have decided to make the switch to book blogging so I can still shout my unsolicited bookish opinions into this void we call the Internet. It's a new chapter in my online life!

Why is your blog on hiatus in November?
Blame National Novel Writing Month.

What type of books do you like to read?
I usually gravitate towards books with fantasy or paranormal elements, but I also really like contemporary realistic fiction. Other genres I often enjoy include dystopian, mystery and classics.

What are some of your favorite books?
I believe my Favorites Shelf on Goodreads can answer this question. Currently I have around 40 books on that shelf and it is always growing.

Do you accept ARCs or books/comics for review?Sometimes, depending on the book and what my schedule looks like. I don’t review ARCs very often, so please keep that in mind if you reach out to me. Check my Favorites Shelf on Goodreads to get an idea of my tastes.

Why are you so goshdarn critical? It’s just a book!
Several reasons, but here’s the short answer: I feel it’s important to consume all media (whether it’s books, films, comics, web content, etc) critically because media impacts on how we view the world and each other.

Why don’t you count graphic novels in your yearly reading challenge?
I started challenging myself to read [X] amount of books every year when I noticed a decline in how many books I was reading after I started university. I have never counted graphic novels, manga, comic books, textbooks, and/or fanfiction towards this challenge.

What do you have against romantic subplots?
Most generic hetero romantic subplots bore me, because they tend to rely the same tropes over and over again without adding anything new. Most of the time, I don’t even feel a romantic subplot is necessary.

Why do you read so many books with lesbian/bi/queer protagonists?
Because they are relevant to my interests and I like them.

How do you read your comics? If I like buying my comics in print when I can and I’m sucker for single issues. I’m very proud of my little comic book collection. I also read bind-ups and I’m warming up to reading digital issues. They work in a pinch.

You don’t read Marvel comics, but you keep talking about Lady Sif and/or Ms. Marvel. What’s up with that?
I do read Marvel comics, but I grew up exclusively reading DC because that’s what everyone I knew read. Recently I have been trying to read more Marvel and indie comics, so you may see me talking about those.

Why are you always drinking tea?
Drinking tea and talking about books is kinda my thing. Though I’ll let you in on a little behind-the-scenes filming secret: Sometimes it’s too hot for tea, so I just drink water and no one notices the difference.

How many editions of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban do you own?I currently own five different editions (3 American editions, 1 English edition and 1 German edition).

Has anyone actually ever asked you these questions?
Hey, what are you implying?

FAQ
What books do you usually like to read for October?
My general preferences are Horror/Gothic Horror over Paranormal Romance, Adult Fiction over Young Adults and Middle Grade, and Vampires over All The Other Monsters. But, of course, I make exceptions.

How do I suggest a book for you to review in October?
Suggesting a book does not guarantee I will read it, but if you’d like to recommend a book for October, please feel free to leave your recommendation in the comments below!

What’s with the costumes?
It’s Halloween, so costumes are obligatory! I also like getting in touch my inner goth kid.

Are you drinking wine in these videos?
To quote a classic, “I never drink… wine.”
